Week of May 8-12

Monday:
Poppleton One Room School Field Trip!

Tuesday: C: Cards and D: Dance Party
Back to 2017 today!

In phonics learned the OO sound that sounds like ZOO.  We put bars on the OO like ZOO bars to help remind us of the sound it makes.

In math we did 3 digit addition when we regroup twice!

We read our story for the week.  It is an autobiography of the author who wrote Mice and Beans.

We wrote and said our memory today as well!
We also started writing Ch 2: Poppleton with Stanley or Stacey.

In science we learned about the seasons and why we have the seasons.

We got to do our C for the day!  CARDS!  We played Old Maid and Rummy!!

We ended our day with D; DANCE PARTY!!

Wednesday: E is for Electronic Day!
We started with Chapel.  Mrs. Barnes' class shared about what our footprints say.  We all leave behind footprints.  What will your footprint say about you!?  Were you walking worthy?

After chapel we went outside to trace our shadows.  We went out 3 times, once at 9, again at 11, and again at 2.  This shows us that the earth rotates each day and we see that by where are shadows are located.

In math we began working on 3 digit subtraction.  Today we only borrowed from the tens and brought them over to the ones place.

We learned the other sound the OO makes.  The sound like look.  We draw eyes in the oo to remind us which OO sound it says.

We learned about the Moon and the Stars in science.

We finished writing chapter 2 of our Stanley and Stacey stories.  Only one more chapter left!!

In the afternoon we made our Mother's Day gifts :)  The children are all blessed with such amazing Christian mothers!!

Thursday: F is for Flip Flops

In religion we read about Jesus washing the disciples feet.  We talked about how low of a job that was and what a honor it was for them to have Jesus do that for them.  We talked about serving others and how we are a blessing to many that we meet daily by our words and actions.

We wrote our memory:

We learned how to subtract and borrow 2 times from both the tens and the hundreds.

We talked about using facts from our story to draw conclusions.  Then we had to read the clue and guess the animal.

For science we did Oreo Moon Phases.  We represented the new moon, first quarter moon, full moon and last quarter moon with our Oreos.

We also watched The Magic School Bus
We learned when to us A or AN as the article in our sentences.
We ended reading our Weekly Reader about Chameleons.

Friday: G is for Glasses
This morning we had our walk-a-thon!  We walked from 9-11.  Many of the children got between 12-16 laps and 1 student had 22!!  We exceeded our goal of $25,000.  To God Be The Glory!

The rest of the day was a easy and fun day: Art, Recess and we played 4 corners for games!
