Week of Feb 27-March 3

Monday:
We had a half day but we kept ourselves busy all morning!

We got our next religion books: Miracles of Jesus
Our first story was about when Jesus healed the paralyzed man.

We also wrote the 10th commandment in our prayer journals.

We added and subtracted money and wrote dollars and coin amounts in Math.

We learned how to decode 2 syllable words today in phonics.

Tuesday:

We had a special visitor in the classroom today.  Mr. Simon came to visit.  He was a former student of Mr. Neumeyer's at St. Luke and a graduate of LHN.  He is creating an app for teachers.  It is similar to snapchat, but its a way that I as a teacher can take snapshots of the children's day and upload it to a safe a secure app that you as parents can view.  It will one day be able to replace my blog.  It will be a great way to keep communication and for you to have an idea of what your child does daily.

We learned the SCHWA sound today in phonics. We wrote our spelling words since they all have the schwa sound.

We did math games in small groups.  The children took turns rolling to see how many quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies they would get.  Then they added up the total to see who got the most.

We also did small group reading as well.  The children split into 2 groups to read.

Our letter today was uppercase V.  Check out these victorious all stars

We started our new science unit: Our Earth.  We learned about the different land we have on earth.

Then we did chapel practice to get ready for next week!  We ended with Daily 5.  What a busy day!

Wednesday:
Today in Chapel we received our ashes for Ash Wednesday.  We talked about following Jesus by walking the way He wants us to walk.

For math we prepared for our math test.  We also got into small groups to count the coins we brought in.  Our class brought in over $40!  Way to go!

The children had back to back specials today!  They went right from computers to gym!

In science we learned about Earth's water.  We learned that 75% or 3/4 of the Earth is covered in water. We talked about all the ways we use water each day and how important water is in our lives.

The children got their pen pal letters today.  They love getting these each month.  Today we began writing back.  We talked about our Valentine's Day party!

We ended by practicing for Chapel!

Thursday:

We took our math test today on money!
In religion, we read about The Ten Lepers.  We also wrote our Bible verse, 1 Chronicles 16:34

Our letter today for handwriting was the uppercase Y.  Yahoo to todays all stars.

We began taking our unit reading test today.  I read a story aloud and they answered questions.  Then they read a story on their own and answered questions.

In science we talked about different changes on Earth such as volcanoes, earthquakes, and landslides.

We finished writing our pen pal letters today.  Tomorrow we will address them and put them in the mail!

We ended once again with chapel practice.  We went down to the worship center to rehearse!

Friday:
We had another chapel practice today!  We are getting better each time we practice!

We started our new math unit!  TIME!  We learned the parts of the clock and telling time to the hour.

We took 2 tests today; Spelling and Reading!
