Week of March 6-10

Monday:
We once again practiced for chapel!  We are so excited to share it with all of our friends and family on Wednesday.

We did more time today.  We did hour and half hours!
For March is reading month this week we had a production company put on the musical:
Spaghetti In a Hot Dog Bun!









We listened to our story: Dig Wait Listen during snack.

In phonics we learned the last job of Y: When Y is at the end it says the LONG E sound.....

UNLESS THE E FOLLOWS THE LETTERS N-F-L AND IS A VERB THEN IT IS A LONG I!!

For religion we talked about how Jesus raised a boy from the dead.  It shows how powerful He really is!  Then we wrote our memory verse:

We finished by partner reading for mentors!!



Tuesday:
We took turns saying our memory verse for the day.



Next we learned more about time.  We practiced telling time to the 5 minutes.  We counted by 5's to write in the numbers on our clocks.

Then we had our LAST PRACTICE before we share our chapel with the school!  They are SOOO ready!!  

We learned skill 2 for decoding 2 syllable words.  This time when there are 2 consonants after the vowel, you split between the 2 consonants.  

We had a Severe Weather Drill today to prepare us in case of the real thing!


Our letter for handwriting was Uppercase W.  Check out our Wonderful all stars!


In science we learned about rocks and minerals.  

We did partner reading with our reading books before recess!

We ended with daily 5!!
Wednesday:
CHAPEL DAY!!  We got to lead Chapel today.  I was soo proud of each and every one of my "munchkins."  They did an amazing job sharing the love of Jesus with the school!

We are still working on time in math!  We got out the plastic clocks today to use and show different times.

OUR SNACK WAS A TREAT FOR OUR BLURT AND FOR LEADING CHAPEL!  DONUTS
This afternoon, we did a rocks and minerals lab.  We checked the color of minerals, the streak and the hardness.  Then we had to use our results to figure out what the name of each mineral is! Many of the children were able to get them all right!

We learned about pronouns in Grammar.  We put many pronoun cards on the cabinets.  
At the end of the day, we shared our career posters.   Check out the class posters in the hallway.  




THURSDAY:


Friday:
Since there was NO SCHOOl Thursday, we had a little make up work to do!

We read about how Jesus Calms the Storm today.  We talked about how we all have storms in our lives.  We learned that storms can be when someone is sick, when you are sick, when someone passes away, a divorce in the family, being bullied or anything else that troubles us.  Jesus calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee, and He can calm our storms too!

We said our memory verse:
The children all get to take home their plastic clocks today to work on time!!

We did our Scholastic News today during Daily 5.  We learned about how TOO much sugar is BAD!!

The children had Art this afternoon and we ended with TIME games!!
