Week of February 6-10

Monday:
WHAT A GAME!! WAY TO GO PATRIOTS!














We learned about Naaman and Elisha today.  We refereed back to our Baptisms when we were cleansed by God just like Naaman!

In math we started by playing SCOOT!  Each child went around and counted the coins on the piggy banks, did a self check and moved on.  Each child counted 16 different coin amounts today!





Then we learned about the half dollar!


Our story for this week is  Time for Kids Story:  A Way to Help Planet Earth


Our phonics skills for this week is Digraphs Blends.

We began our new Social Studies Unit: Marketplace.  We will be learning about being producers and consumers in our community.  We will learn about services.  We will be talking about careers and we will take a trip to Nino Salvaggios to learn about a marketplace near us!




We began a fun writing assignment.  We are writing using sequential words such as first, then, next, last.  We are writing the steps to build a snowman.  We did our prewrite today and we will edit and rewrite later this week!

We ended with by getting into our small groups with our reading mentors and reading!


Tuesday:
The children took turns reciting the first and second commandments today.  They did a great job!


In phonics, we practiced finding our digraphs blends and used different colors to mark them.

For math we did a class hands on activity where the children were given an amount and they had find numerous ways to make that amount.  They really did a great job!


We got to read with a friend A Way to Help Planet Earth.  

Our letter for handwriting was Uppercase M.  Check out our marvelous all stars
We learned about producers and consumers for Social Studies today.  We talked about ways we are producers and ways to be consumers.  We listed different goods and services too.  Then we watched a short video.

We reviewed helping verbs for grammar and learned irregular verbs


At the end of the day, we wrote our spelling words and how much they were worth for daily 5.  The children were very challenged.  
Wednesday: Sports/Christian Day
We had chapel this morning!  For our theme week WE PLAY we all got into our chapel families and played Freddy Oka!

In math, we just assessed to see how well we were doing with coins.  They are doing GREAT!

We had back to back specials today!  Lucky us!

We finished our snowman stories and hung them in the hallway.

WE ENDED THE DAY PLAYING BOARD GAMES!  IT WAS GREAT!










THURSDAY: MRS PETTIBONE WAS NOT HERE!  HOME WITH SICK JACKSON :(

FRIDAY
 We worked on equal coins worksheet and half dollars worksheet in math.

We added suffixes to the different phonetic skills for phonics.

We played a fun game in gym.

We played in the flurry of snow at recess.

Many of our friends got to bring a friend from 2-O over for lunch!

The children traced and colored circles in art.

We played some more games at the end of the day!
